Itinerary. Day 1: Upon
arrival in Nairobi you are going to be met at the Jomo
Kenyatta International Airport by Mbango Safaris representative
and transfer you to Fairview
Hotel. Overnight at Fairview
hotel, Nairobi.
Day
2: After
breakfast depart for Mt. Kenya, stopping at Thika ponds
on the way and where possible for birding arriving in
time for lunch at
Serena Mountain Lodge which stands at 2995 meters above
sea level. Lunch followed by a walk in the afternoon
through the highland forest
looking for the different highland forest species.

dinner and overnight at Serena
Mountain Lodge.
Day
3: Early
morning walk around the lodge grounds if weather permits
followed by breakfast and then we leave for Sangare
Conservancy. Birding on the way and stopping
when we spot anything special arriving at Sangare
Tented Camp in time for lunch.
After lunch we venture out
again
for birding at the expansive sanctuary to be back to the camp just before the night
falls. Dinner and overnight at Sangare
Tented Camp.
Days
4 & 5: After
breakfast we leave Sangare Conservancy for Lake Nakuru National Park arriving there in
time for lunch. Lake Nakuru National Park is world
famous for its population of flamingo’s and both Black
and White Rhinoceros. We are going to spend the
next two days looking for the different bird species
found here including the Cliff Chats, endangered Black
Rhinoceros and the elusive Leopard. We are going
to spend our days birding and wildlife watching leaving the lodge with our
packed breakfast to be back for lunch and then venturing
out again in the afternoon to be back to the lodge
just before it gets dark.

Day
6: After
breakfast we leave Lake Nakuru National Park for Lake Naivasha
where we are going to do birding at Elsamere Conservation
Center grounds and the shoreline.
Lake Naivasha is
famous for its large number of water birds. We are going
to be staying at Elsamere Field Study Center at the
banks of Lake Naivasha: Elsamere is the former home
of Joy Adamson who, together with her husband George,
became world famous for the pioneering conservation
work and relationship with the Lioness Elsa.
Please
note:
It is possible to make boat trips at Lake Naivasha with
a minimal cost depending on the group size and the cost
is not included in
the tour costing.

Conservation Center.

Days
7 - 9: Early
breakfast and then we leave for the world famous Masai
Mara National Reserve arriving there in time for a late
lunch. Spend the afternoon game watching and birding
at the plains of Masai Mara. All meals at Karen Blixen
Tented Camp which is located at the heart of Masai Mara.
We are going to spend the days
birding leaving the lodge with our packed breakfast
to be back for lunch and then venturing out in the afternoon
or having
an early breakfast and then leaving with
our packed lunches to be back to the lodge just before
it gets dark.
Dinner and overnight at Karen
Blixen Tented Camp.
Day
10: Breakfast
and then we leave Masai Mara for Nairobi with packed
lunches stopping at Manguo ponds and at Loresho Ridge
swamp in search of the Jackson’s Widow birds where we
shall have our lunch and then head for Nairobi. Dinner
at Carnivore
before leaving to the airport for your out bound flight.
Weather. During our tour we can expect most days to be dry and
fairly sunny, temperatures ranging from 20- 30oC, depending on
altitude. Overcast weather, particularly in the afternoons, may not be
infrequent, but rain is unlikely except on high ground such as Lake Nakuru,
where afternoon precipitation is a possibility. Here the weather can be chilly
between sunset and sunrise.
Grading. This tour is designed
for the involved naturalist. It is ideal guided overview
to Kenya's extraordinaly diverse bird species and an
annual favourite for keen birders.

Food & accommodation included
in the price. All meals and accommodation are included throughout this
holiday as indicated in the itinerary with the exception of dinner on the first
day.
Entry requirements. Certain
nationals do require visas in order to enter Kenya although
there are no visa requirements for citizens of the Republic
of Ireland and Commonwealth countries. Citizens of the
following countries are obliged to carry visas: Antigua,
Bermuda, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guyana, India, South Africa
(for visitors staying more than 30 days), Sri Lanka,
San Marino, Turkey, United Kingdom and Uruguay. You
can complete and print a Visa application form online
from www.kenya.visahq.com
Visas can be readily obtained at JKIA and Moi International
airports on arrival as well as from Kenya High Commissions
abroad prior to departure. There is a fee to process
a visa, usually between US $ 20 - US $ 100 depending
on the category required.
Birds check list. Every
participant of the trip will get a checklist of birds of Kenya on arrival at Nairobi.
