This is the ideal combination: birding and beach, with something for everyone. It is a stand alone itinerary or the perfect extension to our birding safaris.

Days 1 - 4: Mombasa. Fly overnight to Mombasa and drive to Malindi. Enjoy Watamu Marine Park: fabulous coral reef home to over 140 species of coral, tropical fish. rare sea turtles and endagered Dugong.

Inland we shall visit the Arabuko Sokoke forest, the large and intact coastal forest in East Africa, home to over 24 rare endemic bird, mammal and butterfly species, explore Mida Creek mangrove swamp and Sabaki Estuary with its sand banks, dunes and fresh water pools. Fullboard overnights at
Turtle Bay Beach Resort.

Days 5 & 6: Shimba Hills National Park. Drive south to Shimba Hills Forest Reserve. A botanically rich coastal rainforest. Two of Kenya's most beautiful and rare orchids can be found here as well as the large Sable Antelope and herds of Forest Elephants. We visit spectacular Sheldrick's Falls and the Lango plains looking out across the savannah to the Indian Ocean beyond. Fullboard overnights at Kutazama Eco-Camp.

Day 7: Drive to Mombasa. Mombasa is a historic city and the original slave port. We shall visit Fort Jesus and other sites of historic interest in the Old Town. Other activities available: crocodile farm and curio markets. Halfboard overnight at Pinewood Village.

Day 8: Depart: Flight back home.

Weather. The daytime temperatures will average around 15°-32°C and can be cool at night. Kenya enjoys a pleasant climate all year round thanks to it's altitude, except the coastal regions which can be humid.

Entry requirements. All European countries passport holders and most other nationalities require a visa for Kenya which is obtained in advance from the nearest embassy. You will also need to have various vaccinations and take malaria prophylactic. Please contavt us or consult the nearest embassy about your requirements as soon as possible before traveling.
