Mount
Kenya.
Situated
at the central part of Kenya and neighbouring the Aberdares,
Mt. Kenya is the second highest peak in Africa. This
mountain was regarded as ‘sacred’ in the ancient days
and the Kikuyu community conducted their prayers facing
it.
Unlike
Kilimanjaro, Mt. Kenya is mainly wet at most times of
the year but this does not inconvenience climbers. The
vegetation here varies from red hot poker, Scenecio
Kniensis to Carduus Kniensis and Ostrich Prum Lobelia
at different altitudes. In our continued efforts to
render better and more unique services to our customers,
we are offering another rather strikingly unique route
on Mt. Kenya passing round the main peaks and crossing
point Lenana (4590m).
Besides
the Sirimon route, our other tracks, are away from the
main tourist routes. You have the choice of the Timau
or Kamweti approach for the ascend. while you can opt
to descend through the most scenic route, the ‘Chogoria
route’.
Mt.
Kenya is an ideal preparation for a Mt. Kilimanjaro
climb in an environment with spectacular views plus
a unique flora and fauna.
